The Likely General Store...
Owners since 1982, Rod and Carol Weed of the The Likely General Store in
the small town of Likely are open Monday through Saturday from about 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. (and many times a little
longer!) They are also open on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Likely Store carries a wide variety
of grocery items, beer and wine, clothing, Black Hills Gold and other jewelry, over the counter medicines and just about
everthing you might need for your stay in Modoc County.
Just expanded and opened last year is Likely General
Store's "The Basement", a gift boutique, carrying an entire line of Lodge cast iron cookware,
Fire and Light glassware, children's Classic Peddle Car Toy collectibles from Warehouse 36 and others, Marble Canyon enamel
ware dishes and pots and pans, Betty Boop and Coca Cola collectibles and handcrafted items from local craftsmen
and women. And yes, they gift wrap! They're also the last place south of Alturas where you can buy
fuel for your car until you're halfway to Reno. The store is adorned with antiques of all kinds. You
really do need to stop in and see Rod and Carol in this big little country store during your visit to Modoc County-whether
you're running low on supplies or not. It's like stepping back in time into an old fashioned country store.
